Kibera, the second largest slum in Africa. Estimates of the population range from 100,000 to one million, depending on whom you ask.
More of the Kibera slum. The new buildings to the left are housing projects built by Habitat for Humanity. The hope to clear out the slums by 2030.

Nairobi National Park is 7km from downtown Nairobi. Until recently, it used to be attached to the Masaai Mara Reserve via wildlife corridor. The area still remains wild. Some taxis with special licenses will drive through it as a shortcut around traffic to the airport!

Our friend and guide Peter saw this young lion from about 3/4 of a mile away, and rushed us over to get a closer look. It was soon joined by 3 more family members.
